‘Why a travel blog? There are so many out there already?’ That was the first thought that popped into my head, almost immediately after the idea of a travel blog formed in my head. An hour or two before, I was planning my next trip and researching child-friendly excursions in the destination of my choice. I found many websites with suggestions, and they all more or less suggested the same thing. Exactly what I was not looking for.
An overview:
With this website I want to inspire couples and parents who love luxury travel.
I share my personal experiences and practical tips for family-friendly trips and travel for couples. I avoid museums unless they are very special.
Who am I actually? I am Raymonde, I am 44 years old (ouch), and I work independently as an event and wedding planner. Well, more as a wedding planner, because most of my events are weddings. I live near Eindhoven (The Netherlands) with my husband and our two children. We have an eight-year-old daughter and a five-year-old son. My time is mainly spent on my work and my children. In addition, I like to sleep, write and read. I also like to go out with my husband, sisters and friends. Although the latter is something that I do tend to forget a bit.
Something that my husband and I have in common is that we like to travel. That was clear from the first date and that desire for a next trip never really went away. In 2025, we will go on a trip almost every school holiday and try to see as much of the world as possible. As long as it fits within my husband’s vacation days.
I have decided to share my travels with you, with the aim of inspiring you for your next trip and I hope that you can use the tips I share. I am not a Tripadvisor or other similar websites. I purely share my own experiences and sometimes also the preparations.
The stories I share are suitable for men and women, but because I write them from my perspective, all content is best suited to parents with children born between 2016 and 2020 or couples who, like us, love luxury travel.
Back to my story. Before I book a trip, I first want to know what I can do there. We are not people who lie on the beach for days until the sun goes down and we like to see what there is to do in the town or village where we are. Usually, we work our way through the Lonely Planet top 10 as best we can, so that we get to see the highlights. What we don’t like, however, are… Museums.
We sometimes want to visit a Natural History Museum, as well as an interesting family museum. And there are situations where we can’t avoid a museum visit. But paying an entrance fee to look at a couple of paintings or other items for a few hours is boring to me and that’s why we don’t do it quickly. Fortunately, my husband and I are in on the same page on this and therefore we skip it if possible.
But when you search for ‘fun things to do’ in a specific city. Then many travel blogs point you to the different museums that you can visit and that doesn’t do me, us, any favours. So, you won’t find any museums on this website. Sorry, I take that back. If I tell you about a museum, it must be particularly interesting.
I tell you more about the nature, the history and the fun things you can do there. And who knows… you might do the same.
